PLANNING: AUDIENCE PROFILE

Today I started making outline notes about what my target audience for  '2020' was like
Age: 15-35
Gender: Male 60 : 40 Female

Social Bracket: Broad social bracket.
Viewers are likely to watch drama, especially comedy dramas such as 'The Inbetweeners', and other comedies such as 'Ferris Bueller's day off'.

At the cinema, they are likely to see dramas such as 'Easy A', 'Mean Girls', and 'St Trinians'. They would watch some of these films on Netflix due to the age of the films.

In their leisure time, they will look on Youtube for viral and entertaining videos, play games on their phone and laptop, listen to music, watch comedies and dramas on TV, drink Starbucks, eat at Pizza Express and McDonalds.

Clothing: Next, would be specified to teenage clothes, so mainstream brands such Palace and Supreme, but affordable so brands such as River Island would come into play as well.

Media: iPhones and Android, using the internet to connect to friends. Possibly Skype.

I have used the NME example to base my photo collage on. This was helpful as it gave a really clear example and allowed me to create this satisfying collage.

Media Effects Model

Audience Profile

Reception Theory

Reception theory focuses on the scope in textual analysis for 'negotiation' and 'opposition' on the part of the audience. This means that a text is not passively accepted by the audience but that the reader / viewer interprets the meanings of the texts based on their individual cultural background and life experiences. Stuart Hall’s encoding decoding model; dominant, negotiated and oppositional readings; why Hall says he studies culture instead of media specifically, and media hegemony.
